Where you plant is often determined by the amount of sunlight available.
I had a corner of the courtyard that was screaming "Plant me," but did I have enough sunlight to plant vegetables? With the exception of some leafy varieties, most vegetables require full sunlight.
Using Burpee.com as a guide, full sunlight is at least 6 hours of sunlight. I had a feeling I was close to the required amount. To test my assumption I setup a solar calculator.
I wanted to take a time-lapse video of the area. Fortunately there is an app for that on iOS called "TimeLapse." I have a few older iPhones, in this case an iPhone 4, with the app. I set it up with an external power supply.
The app allows me to setup the recording time, aperture, and the final compressed time (duration of the ending video).
The video showed a lack of the required sunlight on the back wall, but the near side of the landing was closer to the required amount of light. So I moved my planters close to that area and setup a small garden of flowers, kale, chard, cucumbers and beans. So far, they seem to be thriving.
